Embezzlement and Bad Checks

In May of 2020, Erica Johnston and Forrest Menard, both of Woodbury, were cited to appear on Dec. 21 in Caledonia Court on the charge of bad checks.

On June 8, Logan Ballard, of Woodbury, was cited to appear on Dec. 21, in St. Johnsbury, on the charge of Embezzlement. Ballard was also charged with a bad check charge and cited for the same day.

State Police News

DUI, Motorcycle Crash

On Oct. 25, at 6:50 p.m., Vermont State Police stopped a vehicle operated by Broc Harris, of Plainfield, for a motor vehicle violation. Harris was showing signs of being under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. Harris was transported to the Vermont State Police Middlesex Barracks for processing. He was issued a citation for DUI and is scheduled to appear in Washington County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Nov. 19 at 0930 hours.

On Oct. 25, at approximately 4:31 p.m., Troopers with the Vermont State Police Middlesex barracks responded to a single vehicle motorcycle crash near the intersection of High St. And Main St. In the town of Plainfield. The operator, Eric Eastman, of Barre, was traveling west at approximately 30 mph when he hit suspected debris in the roadway. Eastman laid the motorcycle down on its side before coming to a position of uncontrolled rest. Eastman was transported to CVMC for treatment of suspected non-life-threatening injuries. He was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint, Lack of Liability Insurance T23 VSA 800(a).

St. Johnsbury Police

Violation of Conditions of Release

On Oct. 21, at approximately 11:42 p.m., a St. Johnsbury police officer arrived at a residence on Central Street on a report of a citizen dispute. During the investigation, the officer learned that Shawn A. Rich, of Cabot, had violated his conditions of release (curfew) and was involved in the dispute.

On Oct. 24, at approximately 1:32 a.m., St. Johnsbury Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on US Route 2. The vehicle was found to have Rich as a passenger. Rich was subsequently arrested and charged for the violation on Oct. 21, along with additional other charges.
