SHELBURNE – The Champlain Valley School District’s Literacy Leader, Jensa Bushey, is the recipient of the Vermont Council on Reading’s 2020 John T. Poeton Award.
Bushey is the daughter of Rene and Sharon Fradette of East Hardwick. She is a graduate with a degree in Education from the University of Vermont and received her Master’s of Education in Literacy from St. Michael’s College. She lives in Charlotte, with her husband, Jason, and their two children, Henry and Lila.
The John T. Poeton Award is presented annually by the executive board of the Vermont Council on Reading at the conference. A plaque is presented by the organization’s president to an outstanding educator working in a Vermont school setting fostering literacy development with students and colleagues.
The award recognizes Bushey as a leader and advocate for literacy with teachers and students. Bushey also teaches kindergarten in the district’s Virtual Learning Academy. She is a former Shelburne Community School teacher and literacy coordinator.
